RUSD STUDENTS RE-ENGAGED IN STEM FIELDS WITH THE HELP OF LEGOS
August 19, 2022

Do you think Legos are only a toy? Think again! Riverside Unified students are using legos to learn Science, Technology, Engineering and Math principles everyday.

RUSD’s Innovation and Learner Engagement Department has partnered with Lego Education Solutions to address COVID-19 related learning loss.

During the pandemic's distant learning phase, many students had difficulties that reduced their interest in academics and communication.

The Lego kits help kids regain interest in their studies by presenting STEM lessons as games. STEM leaders assist teachers in including these resources in lesson plans.

"We're immensely proud of our team working with schools to provide engaging opportunities for students to learn through play, “ said Steve Kong, Coordinator, Digital Learning Initiatives and Christalle Hart, Instructional Services Specialist, Digital Learning and STEM.

“The experiences will hopefully inspire all students for future stem careers."
