RUSD ALUMNI AND NFL STAR CHRIS CLAIBORNE TO BE INDUCTED INTO THE NEW CALIFORNIA HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME
August 18, 2022
John W. North High School Alumni and National Football League linebacker Chris Claiborne will be honored and inducted into the inaugural California High School Football Hall of Fame in late November 2022 at Pasadena's Rose Bowl Stadium.
The inaugural cohort features many famous football stars, including 100 players and 13 coaches, and will commemorate the Rose Bowl Stadium's Centennial year.
The Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation partnered with the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) and the National Football Foundation to select players like Claiborne, who began playing in high school, progressed in college, and were drafted into the NFL, continuing to be involved in the sport after retirement.
Every other year a new class will be selected and inducted, which will work to highlight the accomplishments of high school football players up and down the state of California. A public nomination website will be launching on November 1, 2022, allowing the California Community to participate in the future selection process.
The California High School Football Hall of Fame will open in November 2022, with the formal induction ceremony planned for Spring 2023.
"Chris Claiborne left a lasting impact on our school's football program that has echoed in our halls since 1996," said Jodi Gonzales, J.W North High School Principal. "He is the North Star for many of our athletes and is beyond deserving of this honor."
